Manila Grey is the brainchild of childhood friends Neeko and Soliven, who have had a musical relationship that’s lasted for more than a decade.
The duo spent their childhood growing up with the sounds of Hip hop and R&B/Neo Soul luminaries Outkast, Maxwell, Usher, and Musiq Soulchild before deciding to combine their efforts back in 2009. Going through the past 10 years experimenting and discovering their sound together, it wasn’t till 2016 when they became officially known as Manila Grey after linking up with their in-house producer Azel North.
The rest is simply history. Bridging modern eastern aesthetics with atmospheric R&B and rap sonics, the duo has quickly been recognized as uprising leaders of the new hip-hop and R&B wave. One of the stand-out features of Manila Grey is just how much they represent their Filipino culture - from their duo name to featuring Asian convenience stores, rice cookers, and Filipino food staples in their music videos.
